Prime Minister in London
Kids volleyball brought Prime Minister Stephen Harper to London this weekend.
Harper’s trip to the Forest City was prompted by a volleyball tournament his son, Ben, was competing in, but he spent some time Saturday afternoon taking in the 2011 Brier with some political allies.
“I’ve been at the Brier most years for the last 20 years,” Harper said, sitting about 12 rows from the ice in Section 102 of the John Labatt Centre.
Young girl missing
Police, fire fighters and local residents spent Saturday searching a swollen creek near Melbourne for a young girl who is missing after falling into a creek behind her home.
The girl was with two with other girls about when she fell in to Middleman’s Creek about 10:45 a.m. The other two girls went to get help and police were called from a nearby residence.
She fell into the creek in a deep ravine area just behind her home on Riverview .
Electrical malfuction kills two dogs in Toronto
An apparent electrical malfunction has killed two dogs in Toronto's east end, critically injured a third, and sent a police officer to hospital.
The electrocutions happened at the corner of Parliament Street and Queen Street East at about 2 p.m. Friday.
The dogs were walking on the sidewalk when they stepped on a metal cover that was apparently electrified.
A police officer who tried to lift the dog suffered burns to her hands.Courveau said it was a disturbing scene.

Popular tax return software glych reduces returns
A software glitch in a popular tax-return software programo ProFile has been blamed for reducing some income-tax rebates by $100.
A professional tax preparer in London spotted the problem this week after receiving $10,000 less than expected in customer-rebate money from the Canada Revenue Agency.
“It looks bad on us,” said Crystal Volpe, co-owner of C & V Income Tax Service which prepares returns for about 20,000 customers.
