Tim Best could be out on bail and back in the community next week, once lawyers prepare a notice to appeal his conviction.
Best’s defence lawyer, Richard Braiden, said outside the courthouse after Best was sentenced to six months in jail Friday that he plans to contact an appeal lawyer to argue against the conviction.
 Braiden said Court Justice Bruce Thomas’s sentencing decision was “reasoned,” but he was disappointed he couldn’t convince the judge to render a 90-day sentence to be served intermittently

The beleaguered husband of London's former mayor was sent to jail for six months for a bizarre night of winter driving.
Tim Best, 49, was sentenced for charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving, and two counts for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
He was charged on Jan. 31, 2009 after a crash on Hwy 401 and in Dorchester.
The husband of former London mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best made his own impassioned plea for leniency earlier.

Police still searching for Trever Andrews

London Police are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Trever Andrews who went missing October 28, 2009.
26-year-old Andrews was last seen in the area of Huron Street and Oakville Avenue on the evening of October 28. Police are looking to speak to anyone with information on his whereabouts or the circumstances of his disappearance.
Trever is described as a white male, 6′ tall, 170 lbs with short light brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and white running shoes.

A 39-year-old woman allegedly sprayed three people with pepper spray after stealing from a London grocery store on Wednesday.
Police said a male and female suspect entered the Loblaws on Wonderland Rd. shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday and took a number of items. While fleeing the scene, the female sprayed three people with pepper spray.
A London woman faces multiple charges, including three counts of assault with a weapon.
A 51-year-old London man faces three charges, including theft under $5,000.

London gets extra 4.6M

Next year’s draft London budget won’t be tabled for nine months, but Londoners received a gift Thursday from Ontario’s election-bound Liberal government.
The province will give the city an extra $4.6 million this year, cash that’s roughly the equivalent of 1% on the local property tax rate — a big assist for a London mayor who vowed to freeze taxes for four years.

Ontario teen linked to dead baby in U.K.

BARRIE, Ont. - A dead baby found in a London, England, hotel room has been linked to a 15-year-old Barrie, Ont., girl who had been on a school trip.
Few details have been released about Saturday's discovery, as authorities await post-mortem results.
The autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
The baby's gender has not been confirmed.

7 charged in child porn bust.

 WINDSOR, Ont. -- Pictures of newborn babies were among thousands of disturbing images police seized in a local child porn sweep.
Investigators arrested seven suspects including a man who allegedly tried to lure a young Windsor girl into having sex, and one who had 500,000 pictures of kids.
Police said they hoped they made a dent in the child exploitation trade, but acknowledged there are many more predators still on the loose.

The charges stemmed from a wild night of driving on a wintry Jan. 31, 2009.
