With London gas prices hitting a record $1.38/litre on Thursday, drivers are facing a lose/lose scenario, says an energy analyst.
Spencer Knipping, an advisor to the Ontario Ministry of Energy, said gas prices will only come down if frightened consumers tighten their belts, causing a sharp slide in the economy.

Shooting victim in serious condition
A man was taken to hospital in serious condition after a shooting Wednesday night in north London, police said.
Police went to a house on Aldersbrook Rd. and Gainsborough Rd. shortly before 9 p.m. and found a male with gunshot wounds.
The shooting occurred at another location a short distance away, and the man fled to a nearby residence that called 911, police said.
The man's injuries aren't life threatening, police said.

Senior killed in collison
An 80-year-old woman is dead after a two-car crash on Northville Rd. Wednesday night.
The woman was making a left hand turn into a driveway when it's alleged her vehicle was struck from behind by a northbound vehicle shortly before 5 p.m., police said.
She was taken by ambulance to the Strathroy Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the other vehicle, a male, was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are investigating but no charges yet.

Several tornadoes may have hit
Environment Canada is investigating the possibility several tornadoes hit Southwestern Ontario Wednesday when a line of severe thunderstorms raced across the area.
According to a statement issued Thursday morning, a tornado may have touched down in Oxford County in Blandford-Blenheim Township at 3:05 p.m.
Police reported trees down and debris in that area.
Ten minutes later, a tornado may have landed near Ayr. There is no confirmed damage from it, Environment Canada said.
