London police seized bear spray and an expandable baton Wednesday afternoon as they probed suspicious activity in an Adelaide St. N. parking lot.
Police were in the parking lot at 1593 Adelaide St. N. near Fanshawe Park Rd. when they found two men in a vehicle with the strong odour of fresh marijuana.
The two were arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
One was also charged with possession of marijuana.
Police seized $370 worth of pot, bear spray and an expandable baton.

Mustangs defeat Guelph 4-1
The Mustangs defeated the Guelph Gryphons 4-1 Wednesday at Thompson arena to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three Ontario university West final.

St Thomas police warn residents about credit card scam.
Police say some have been getting phone calls from people claiming to be employees of major credit card companies and telling the people that since they've been loyal customers they're eligible for a discounted trip to the U.S. or Caribbean.
The caller then asks the person for a credit card number to book the discounted trip.
Police said the callers are not employed by the credit card companies and to never disclose credit card or personal information to unknown people.

Uniformed London police officers drew their weapons Wednesday night as they arrested a man who was wanted on a first-degree murder charge in Hamilton.
Hamilton police's gangs and weapons unit alerted city police in the last two weeks that the man may be in London.
On Wednesday, city police got a tip about the man's location and arrested him in a taxi at Oxford and Adelaide Sts. about 10:30 p.m.
Eight uniformed officers converged on the taxi and performed a "high-risk"
takedown,No one was hurt.

LONDON - On Thursday, Britain released 35 previously classified files documenting sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) by the military and members of the public dating back to the 1950s.
The files contain around 8,500 pages which mainly cover the period from 1997 to 2005 and include photographs, drawings and descriptions of flying saucer sightings, as well as letters the Ministry of Defence (MoD) sent eyewitnesses in response to their accounts.

Mandatory anti-violence training only taken by one city member
An anti-violence advocate is raising concerns that the training made mandatory for all London city councilors has so far only been taken by one of them.
Coun. Stephen Orser, whose online misstep led city hall to make the so-called I Step Forward anti-violence training a must for city council, is the lone councillor to complete the two-hour course.
"It's disappointing, it's disheartening, it shows a lack of leadership and it's irresponsible," said Megan Walker of the London Abused Women's Centre.

“We are getting rumblings from various intelligence sources that there has been a resurgence of motorcycle gang activity in Ontario,” Freeman said. “Puppet clubs are starting to emerge.”
