Ignatieff pitches family care plan

The Liberal plan would also help with the cost of care giving through a new Family Care Plan, a plan that will cost $1 billion annually.
The plan includes a new six-month family care EI leave. It would allow Canadians to care for gravely ill family members without having to quit their jobs.
The plan also includes a Family Care Tax Benefit, similar to the child tax benefit. It would give up to $1,350 annually.
This will help 630,000 family caregivers each year.

Ignatieff to meet with Diamond aircraft

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff will meet later today with beleaguered Diamond Aircraft officials.
Liberal candidate Roger Caranci confirmed that a meeting between Ignatieff and Diamond officials would be happening after a campaign announcement at the Delta Armouries this morning.
Asked if Ignatieff had met with Diamond officials this morning, Liberal candidate Doug Ferguson said "not yet."
He stressed how important the Diamond loan was to London and expressed frustration about the length of time it's taken to approve it.

Another senior swindled

Just days before a planned seminar to protect seniors from becoming victims of crime, police say a 76-year-old woman was bilked out of $50,000.
Before the victim even caught on that she was being scammed, the scammer then posed as a detective working out of Montreal for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) telling her "he knows all about the scam and he needs her to co-operate and wants to help her because she is a legitimate winner."

Liberal Leader Ignatieff in London today

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff is spending Friday in southwestern Ontario, where he will try to sell his party's $1 billion family care plan.
He then heads to Kitchener, Ont., to help Kitchener-Centre candidate and former MP Karen Redman open her campaign office.
The Grits lost a number of ridings in the area the 2008 general election by slim margins including Redman's, who lost by 339 votes to the Tory candidate - and are working hard to flip them back into the Liberal camp.
