Russian droids roam City Hall

Mayor Joe Fontana liked his robot so much he named him, not surprisingly "Joe," took him for a spin and offered to plunk down $5,000 to buy one on the spot.

Two robots, looking a little like modern-day R2D2s, spent Thursday rolling around the second floor of City Hall as their Russian manufacturers made a pitch to Fontana and city staff for them to start making the 'bots in London.

Victim asks public for help

Two men who beat another so badly he's in hospital are on the loose and St. Thomas police are asking for the public's help to find them.
The two men entered a Wellington St residence about 6 p.m. Wednesday and severely beat the resident.
The resident was taken to St. Thomas General Hospital then transferred to London Health Sciences Centre.
One of the men may have been of Hispanic descent. They were seen fleeing the area in a green van, police said.
