Failed mom jailed 2 years

Sara Whittington, 36, was jailed today for two years less a day for the disappearance of her infant daughter, Abbygail Dice in September, 2007.
Superior Court Justice Peter Hockin said Whittington had caused "great harm" to her family, the baby's father's family and the community by not admitting to where she disposed the body of the baby.
Whittington was convicted of offering an indignity to a body after a trial.
Whittington told Hockin she "failed (Abbygail ) as a mother."

Unemployment rate steady

The London area unemployment rate held steady at 8.3% in April while Canada's jobless rate fell to 7.6%.
In the London-St. Thomas area the number of people employed grew by 800 last month but that was offset by another 1,000 people entering the labour force.
Statistics Canada said the national economy gained 58,300 jobs.
BMO Capital Markets called the April jobs numbers "a show of strength which should dampen some budding concerns that the North American economy was losing serious steam."
