School cafeterias get an F

High school cafeterias aren't the only student-serving eateries in London to rack up food safety violations in the area health unit's latest inspections.
Health inspectors recorded 26 critical violations during recent inspections of 22 restaurants and cafeterias at Fanshawe College and the University of Western Ontario, according to the M.L.H.U.
Though each of the 26 infractions, gone unchecked, could have led to food poisoning, the eateries were found mostly in compliance with the health unit's 45-item food-safety checklist and can operate.

London man faces weapons charges.

A man found in an alley in downtown London faces a slew of charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and drunk driving.
Police say they were called to the alley off Richmond St. on Tuesday at about 2:50 a.m. They'd received calls that a man who had a handgun and had been involved in a car crash was in the alley.
The man was arrested and an imitation firearm was found in the vehicle.
The 34-year-old London man is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, two impaired driving charges, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, possession of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

East end golf course gets mulligan

City-owned River Road golf course received a one-year stay of execution Tuesday from a city council committee.
In rejecting a staff recommendation to close the troubled east end course, politicians told golfers they must make better use of the course or lose it.
