Two 7.0 magnitude earthquakes hits Myanmar

YANGON, Myanmar - Two strong earthquakes struck northeastern Myanmar less than a minute apart Thursday night. They could be felt as far away as Bangkok, but a tsunami was not generated.

The first 7.0-magnitude quake was just six miles (10 kilometres) deep, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was followed by another of the same strength but far deeper: 140 miles
The quakes struck along Myanmar's borders with Thailand and Laos, about 70 miles from the northern Thai city of Chiang Rai.

Grenades found at value village

BARRIE, Ont. — Grenades, with their pins removed, were found in Value Village's donation bin Thursday morning.
Police were called to the store, which was then evacuated.
Store manager Lee-Anne Dryden said employees discovered the grenades while sorting through the donation bin.
Police are reminding citizens that donation boxes aren't garbage bins.

High school worker also porn star

LEVIS, Que. — A high school clerical worker who moonlights as a porn star had her cover blown when a student asked her for an autograph after he recognized her from a blue movie.
The woman, known by the stage name Samantha Ardente, has been suspended without pay while Etchemins High School near Quebec City decides whether the star of Serial Abusers 2 will keep her day job.

The administrative employee was recently confronted by a student. She refused his request for an autograph.

al- Qaida paid $22 per bomb

Iraq - A skinny 18-year-old who can neither read nor write, Louai Tahseen blames his family for getting him tangled up in al-Qaida.
“For three years I have been forced to work for al-Qaida. My uncle threatened to kill me if I didn’t,hands tied behind his back in his jail cell in Baquba, capital of Iraq’s Diyala province.
He says he participated in nine attacks against Iraqi security forces and allied anti-al-Qaida militia, using bombs stuck to cars or planted in the street.

Ontario man dies

A 46-year-old Port Stanley man is dead after being hit by a vehicle while changing a tire on Hwy. 401.
On Wednesday shortly after 8 p.m. Daniel Bekett was outside his vehicle in the eastbound lane of the Hwy. 401, just east of the Mill Rd. overpass, when an eastbound vehicle struck him, said Ontario Provincial Police.
The victim died at the scene.
Traffic was detoured around the accident for 6 hours. OPP are investigating.

Police cruiser downs power lines

WOODSTOCK - A police officer struck a hydro pole with his cruiser Thursday morning while responding to crash on Karn Road between Ingersoll and Woodstock.
Hydro lines were reportedly down across the road. The road is slippery and ice covered in spots.
The officer was not injured. The OPP officer was heading to a crash involving a pickup truck that slid off the road into another pole.
