Neo-Nazi protesters spark shouting match

What was billed as a neo-Nazi rally outside London’s city hall instead turned into a bizarre shouting match between anarchists and two men who said they were there to protest fluoride in tap water.
The protesters were known local white-supremacist Tomasz Winnicki and Dave Ruud, who heads the Northern ABoth held signs telling people to go to websites
The two were far outnumbered by about 20 counter-protesters who showed up wearing black bandanas .

Killed construction worker Identifed

A London man killed at a Kitchener construction site this week has been identified as a father of four. Joao Luis (John) Catunto, 43, was killed Wednesday at a Kitchener condominium construction site on Belmont Ave. West.When they arrived, emergency workers found a worker seriously injured. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Reports say Catunto's children ranged in age from 9-19. He was born in Portugal.

The husband of former Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best has opened a new cheque cashing payday loan service. This new venture is conveniently located near London's Welfare Office.

Tax spending scrutinized

Tax money meant to help welfare recipients with the basics shouldn’t be used for fees charged by loan and cheque-cashing centres.
Councillors on London’s community and neighbourhoods committee asked city staff to research London’s payday loan service situation.
The issue came up at a committee meeting Tuesday after councillors looked at a public letter from the Homeless Coalition, criticizing a new loan and cheque-cashing business run by Tim Best in the same building as the welfare office.

Petty theif arrested

A London, 25, man is charged after a Dundas St. variety store was robbed at knife-point.
London police said a masked man entered the C&C variety store Thursday, pulled a knife and threatened the clerk. He fled with money. Police arrested a man at a Queens Ave. address.
He was charged with armed robbery and wearing a disguise.

Armed robbery at Scotiabank

A bank employee was assaulted during a violent gunpoint robbery Friday in southwest London.
Twelve people were inside the Scotiabank on Wonderland Rd. S. at Commissioners Rd. W. when two men, both wearing dark-coloured hoodies and ball caps, burst into the bank with a sawed-off shotgun about 2 p.m. and demanded cash.
The robbers fled with cash and were last seen traveling north on Wonderland in a white Jeep SUV.
Two vehicles were involved, one which had been reported stolen.

Japan a sign of 2012

Is this earthquake and subsequent tsunami a sign that the world is coming to an end?    It looks like it, if recent history is any indication.

The 8.9  magnitude earthquake that rocked that coast of Japan and caused the tsunami can’t be a coincidence. Haiti, Chile, London even experienced a small quake in 2010.

A possible radioactive meltdown may occur as a result of the quake. Could this be the beginning of the end of the world?

Largest earthquake in Japan's history sparks huge tsunami

An 8.9 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Northeast Japan spawned a ferocious tsunami that's caused massive destruction; flattening whole cities, starting raging fires, and killing hundreds. Nearly 88,000 people are reported missing, according to the official Kyodo news agency.
