Thieves broke into the apartment of a 91-year-old London woman and stole her most treasured item: her husband's ashes.
The widow, whose husband died in 2001, was hoping to be reunited with her partner of 53 years when she dies and is buried with his ashes.
The woman was in the hospital recovering from surgery when the break-in happened at her apartment in a seniors' residence, and her daughter said she can't bear to break the news to her mom.

Sexual predator guilty again
Gregory Last was found guilty again for a brutal sexual assault of a London woman on her 19th birthday.
Last, 27, was convicted Tuesday morning by Superior Court Justice Lynne Leitch a month after hearing how Last met the woman on an afternoon in September 2003, hooked up with her in a London nightclub, convinced her to come into his residence, then sexually assaulted her for hours
The woman, now 26, cannot be named by court order.

Diamond Air Craft scales down loan request
Diamond Aircraft is asking Industry Canada to give it about $8 million immediately so its laid-off workers can be recalled.
Mayor Joe Fontana, who's been directly involved in the plane maker's high-profile push for a $35 million federal loan, detailed the new request he says should be much easier to grant.
"This revised request, in my opinion, should be something easier for the government to deal with”

Half-naked woman with bird in car arrested
Police in Kitchener, Ont., say officers arrested a woman Sunday who was driving while only partially dressed and with a pet bird flying loose in her car.
At 3:16 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police said the 58-year-old woman was driving down a street while continuously blowing her horn. Concerned for the driver's well-being, police tried to pull the car over. But police say the car hit a city bus and then another vehicle before officers were able to arrest the driver.
