CIty hall wants feedback

City hall expects 150 Londoners to attend Saturday when it holds a first-ever conference aimed at improving citizen engagement in civic politics.
The so-called community engagement task force will use the citizen input to help craft a policy guiding how the public is notified on issues and how feedback is collected.
'(It's) not just communicating with people but how do we interact with people? How does decision-making get done here?' said Elaine Gamble, the city's communications director.

UWO helps NASA crew

Researchers at Western are doing their part to keep the crew safe aboard the space shuttle Endeavour after it launches Monday.
Before NASA astronauts step outside their spacecraft at the International Space Station, they'll rely on data from the Canadian Meteor Orbit Radar, based at the University of Western Ontario, to determine it's safe to do so.
UWO scientists use a series of smart cameras, a radar system and computer modeling, to provide real-time data.

College lands aviation program

For the first time, Fanshawe College will offer students an aviation technician program starting this September.
Aviation Maintenance students will be learn to service and repair Radar, navigation systems, communications and radios and black boxes - which are actually orange - aboard helicopters and small planes that have already arrived at the college's new Transportation Technologies, building, the program head said.
The program, which can accept about 40 students, is among 10 transportation technology programs at the campus.
