Masked bandit sought

London police are looking for a suspect after a Lambeth bank was robbed on Saturday.
Shortly after 8 a.m. a man went into TD Canada Trust at 2478 Main St. The man demanded cash.
The suspect fled south with an undisclosed amount of money.
Nobody was injured during the robbery.
The suspect is described as a man in his early 20's wearing a dark hooded sweater with stripes and a black rubber face mask. He is about five-foot-seven with a thin build.

No Foul Play suspected in Blackfriars death

No foul play is suspected in the death of a person whose body was found near the Blackfriars Bridge late Friday afternoon. Both London police and firefighters retrieved the body just south of the bridge near Ridout St. Police at the scene said there was no evidence of foul play. Ridout St. at Albert St. and the bridge was blocked off to pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic while the body was recovered

Seven hospitalized due to collisions

Two kids were among seven people sent to hospital Sunday after crashes in the London area.
The first crash happened at around 6:30 p.m. on Talbot Line, between John Wise Line and Mill Rd., when a westbound mini van veered into the eastbound lane and struck a van carrying a family of four, said Elgin OPP.
All six passengers from both vehicles, including a one-year-old and a four-year-old, were taken to hospital.

Swan steps down

Coun. Joe Swan is stepping down from the London Public Library board, just a few months into his term.
The Ward 3 councillor, who returned to city hall in October after an absence of several years, is citing scheduling conflicts with another board appointment -- this one with the London-Middlesex Housing authority -- in his resignation.
He will remain on the board until April 30.

Downtown summit set

Possible locations for a new city hall will be among the issues discussed at a just-announced summit to find London downtown's "core values."
The summit, open to all Londoners, will be held April 27 at the Covent Garden Market.
"We need to talk about partnerships, options and opportunities," Mayor Joe Fontana said in a press release.
Those attending will break into small groups to discuss the sites in the core that have valuable development potential, including options for a new city hall.

15 collisions is two hours

Perth County OPP responded to 15 crashes in a two-hour period on Sunday night.
Nobody was seriously injured in any of the collision that happened between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., said Perth OPP.
Eleven of the crashes were single-vehicle collisions, including two cars hitting trees, one rollover, one car hitting a deer and eight vehicles stuck in the ditch.
