TORONTO - A 16-year-old Toronto girl with an undisclosed disability died Sunday after two armed men invaded her family home.
Toronto homicide Det.-Sgt. Frank Skubic is expected to update the case — now officially considered a suspicious death — later this afternoon.
The teen was in her Burrows Hall Blvd. home, in the Neilson Rd.-Sheppard Ave. area, around 11:30 a.m. Saturday when her 40-year-old mom answered a knock at the door.
Two masked men, one armed with a handgun, forced their way into the home.
While one bandit stayed with the mentally and physically disabled teen, the other scoured the home looking for something specific, police said.
But they later fled empty handed and the teen was later taken to hospital where she was placed on life support. She died on Sunday and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, police said.
The nature of her medical distress was not revealed.
