Next year’s draft London budget won’t be tabled for nine months, but Londoners received a gift Thursday from Ontario’s election-bound Liberal government.
The province will give the city an extra $4.6 million this year, cash that’s roughly the equivalent of 1% on the local property tax rate — a big assist for a London mayor who vowed to freeze taxes for four years.
“It’s absolutely going to help,” said Mayor Joe Fontana.
