The death toll from the flu climbed to 17, the Middlesex-London Health Unit reported Wednesday.
Last season, eight flu deaths were reported in the city and county.
The latest reported death comes as the health unit advised that flu activity is continuing to decline in the London area and provincially.
There have been no institutional outbreaks and only one new hospitalization was reported in the previous week. Since the start of the flu season in September, 158 people have been hospitalized.
