Slut is a derogatory term that degrades women and a form of emotional abuse that’s used to maintain power over women, says Megan Walker, executive director of the London Abused Women’s Centre.
And it shouldn’t be used at a London walk meant to bring awareness to the larger problem of victim-blaming.
The London walk was organized after a Toronto police officer said women should avoid dressing like “sluts” so they aren’t victimized.
While that was “totally inappropriate,” Walker said, it’s not a London issue.
